Choosing the right Topic for your website is the most IMPORTANT part in creating your website.

After all, aren't we all dreaming about how to become the next Internet⁄Digital guru?

A lot of people think that you just have to have a cool idea, than you build a website and sell it for millions to Yahoo or Google – and you become rich!

Well unfortunately it is not like that!!

Before you become "RICH" you will have to do a lot of brainstorming and learning how to build a suitable website for you ⁄ your online business.

That is why I have created this all – important page on topic choice.

Choose the Best Website Topic

Before you choose your website topic, you must ask yourself the following:

1. What are your areas of interest?

2. Do you know enough in that area to deliver good content or services?

3. Do you provide any goods or services or plan to provide in the future?

All the questions mentioned above usually will not apply to all websites.

Example:

If you have a company which already has a line of products or services, and you want to add a website to deliver your products via the internet.

However, if you are willing to provide a new service, or you are looking for a content based website, than this planning section will help you a lot.

Do Your Work and Research Your Competition!!

Because there are relatively low costs on creating a website, competition is very high. There is every day thousands and thousands new websites on the Internet. Free advertising channels that are provided by the web search engines make competition worse on the Internet. Well, someone could argue that the advertising is free only if your website is better than the rest of the competition. And that is partly true. To learn more about your competition, just run a quick search on any of the search engines like Yahoo.com or Google.com for the keywords which best describe your website topic.

Example:

If your websites topic is about movies, you may search on the following keywords download movies, latest movies, free movies etc. Perform search for those keywords on Top Search Engines and than you will see which sites are high ranked on search engines like Google or Yahoo.

Take a look of the websites that frequently turn up on most of the search queries for all the different keywords. Now you got yourself a list of the well established sites in your area of interest.

Now when you have a list of top ranked websites in your area of interest, you need to visit those sites and take a look at the content that they provide. Try to find out why they are so popular and ranked high on Google or Yahoo. Often popularity in the search results may be due to various factors:

1. The content is unique and lots of people like it.

2. It has been there for long.

3. Has a huge fan base.

4. Uses a better technology including linking methods.

Now when you have reviewed competitors' websites, you have to figure out these questions:

1. Is anything missing in these sites that I can provide? Usually expertise in that area helps to deliver unique content.

2. What can I offer better than these websites, so that people will visit my website?

3. Can I offer services at a cheaper rate? Cost and pricing strategies will be discussed later.

Remember!!

Please remember that researching the competition is not a one time process, you have to do this every now and then to figure out how your website is ranked compared to the others. Everyone who mean serious business with their websites, they are constantly updating their content. So that mean you should do the same.

When I have decided to create a website I thought that all I have to do is "copy & paste" someones website and I am ready "to go" and I will make some money online.

But when I have registered domain name and bought a web hosting plan I learned that it is not so easy to make money online or built a website. When I learned that I asked myself: "Okay Jure, What are you going to do? Are you going to quit or are you going to proceed with "The Website Project" ??"

As you can see I decided to finish what I have started and decided I am going to create a website which will be helpful to all beginners who want to create their own website.

A few reasons Why You Should Stay Away From Make Money Online Topic:

1. There is tons of websites about Making Money Online or Work At Home and Get Rich.

2. If you don't have the proof you are making some cash online, than it's always a bad idea to choose a topic that you have no experience with. If you cannot prove you make some money online, than you run the risk of creating a site like the millions of other "get rich online" sites and you will not get any trust from your website visitors, which means you will have less targeted traffic.

3. If you have ever searched for make money online in Google, than you probably know that there is millions of sites on this topic and it is hard to tell which are real and which ones are just scams.
